McQuillan welcomes windfarm plan withdrawal for Blackhill area

A GARVAGH MLA has welcomed the withdrawal of plans for a wind farm in the Blackhill area.

DUP MLA Adrian McQuillan said: “I would like to welcome the withdrawal of the proposed wind farm south of 13B Lisnamuck Road, Blackhill.

“I am in favour of renewable energy however, situating 126 metre high wind turbines in people’s back yards is not acceptable. There are many other possible locations for a wind farm that would not disrupt people’s everyday lives.

“I feel The Planning Service should have objected to this from the start instead of having to wait for a withdrawal,” he said.
