McShane meets George Galloway about Gaza

FORMER Labour and Respect Party MP, George Galloway, has congratulated the people of County Antrim for their response to the humanitarian crises unfolding in Gaza.

Mr Galloway was speaking following a meeting with a local group which is dedicated to bringing supplies to the civilian population of Gaza .

Mr Galloway is the founder of ‘Viva Palestina’, an umbrella organisation hoping to take several hundred vehicles on a land convoy, in an attempt to bring a “global lifeline to the population of Gaza”.

He flew into Ireland last week to meet volunteers organising several vehicles, preparing to make their way to the tiny enclave on the edge of the Mediterranean Sea .

Antrim to Gaza’ founder and Independent councillor in Moyle, Padraig McShane, who met Mr Galloway and is preparing to travel on the aid convoy, said: “Since he first entered politics, George Galloway has dedicated himself to the Palestinian cause. He is first and foremost a humanitarian and his anti-war efforts have gained him immense credit throughout the world.

“It comes as no surprise to me that Mr. Galloway wanted to acknowledge the people locally given the efforts they have made to ensuring aid gets to Gaza.”
