Meadow Bridge PS goes tractor crazy

Excitement is building at Meadow Bridge Primary School as rehearsals are well underway for the school's production of a Dan Gordon play called '˜Schauldies up the Chimley',

The performances will be held on March 17 and 18.

The play tells the story of a group of evacuees sent out of Belfast into the rural countryside during the Second World War.

This production teaches the children from P1-P7 a lot about their local history, and the school has particularly focused on the life and inventions of Harry Ferguson.

To date the school has had a visit from an ex-pupil Emma Nelson, who brought her tractor and trailer full of pigs to the school playground.

As a prelude to the play the school is also planning a tractor run to take place at 11.00 am on Saturday March 12.

As well as the play itself, the children at the school have been working hard on displays of work relating to Harry Ferguson and life in Northern Ireland during the Second World War.

There will also be an exhibition of local artifacts and memorabilia lent to the school by local people and families of Meadow Bridge pupils.
