The group will receive full body composition analysis and the programme will empower them to make positive changes to improve their long term health, and reduce risk of diseases such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

For the first 8 weeks the group will meet with a representative from Action Cancer for a weekly weigh in, presentation on cancer prevention and healthy lifestyles and a physical activity session.

The charity will also send weekly information focusing on women’s needs including stress reduction, recipe ideas, female specific cancers, alcohol and cancer, the menopause and much
more.

Mrs Iris McCleery from Ballymoney Borough Council said, “As a large local employer we have a focus on the health and well being of our employees and last year a group of our male employees completed the Action Man programme with a number of participants being able to achieve weightloss, reduce cholesterol and blood pressure levels and raise awareness of male
cancers.

“We are very much looking forward to rolling out this programme as a pilot with Action Cancer.”

The Big Bus has also been booked by the council offering breast screening and MOT health checks for the council.”
