Meeting in support of Ashers - and protest against

A public meeting to show support for Asher's Bakery is being held at Craigavon Civic Centre on Monday, February 1, at 8pm - with a counter protest also to take place.

The meeting is organised by The Christian Institute.

A counter protest in reaction to the meeting is being organised on behalf of the LGBT community (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender).

A spokesperson for the protest organisers said: “We are asking people to support the LGBT community to stand up for our rights and meet at 7.30pm at the civic centre entrance.”

Those taking part in the counter protest are asked to bring placards, posters, flags etc to make more impact,

The spokesperson added: “We stress this will be a peaceful protest to express our opinions.”
