Meeting to discuss flooding problems in The Glens

Glens Sinn Fein councillor Colum Thompson has expressed his satisfaction that N.I. Water, Roads Service and The Rivers Agency have committed to attending a multi agency meeting on Wednesday, 12th September to discuss flooding problems in The Glens.

The meeting was arranged after Cllr. Thompson had raised the issue at a Moyle District Council meeting in early August.

Speaking after the meeting was confirmed Cllr Thompson said: “I am glad that the agencies have finally committed to this meeting and I hope that it will signal a more productive approach to the problem of flooding in The Glens.

“Over the past eighteen months people right across the area have been affected by flooding and damage has been caused to many homes and businesses which is having a negative impact on people’s lives.

“To continue to ignore the problem would be totally unacceptable and at the meeting I will be stressing that the agencies must step up to the mark and carry out whatever work is necessary to ensure that this reoccurring problem is stopped.

“I would like to ask any members of the public or business owners who have been affected by flooding to contact me with details and if possible photographs of the flooding so that I can compile as complete a dossier as possible to bring to the meeting so that I can show N.I. Water, Roads Service and The Rivers Agency the true extent of the problem.”
