Meeting to discuss Olympic banner

LOCAL school children are going for gold after it was confirmed that they will be involved in the design and creation of a special banner to celebrate the 2012 Olympics in London.

A meeting at the Braid was held on Friday morning between representatives from the Olympic Parliament, the Creative Peace Mural Society and Ballymena Borough Council.

It was confirmed that local pupils will get the chance to design and create a mural to celebrate the cultural diversity of the Olympic Games.

At the meeting members discussed the possible locations for the banner along with plans for a number of events to take place in the local area next year as part of the Olympic celebrations.

These details are going to be released to the public in the coming months.
