Melissa's really in the driving seat!

A 20-YEAR-OLD Ballymoney woman had a good way of keeping the January Blues well and truly at bay ... by winning a brand new car!

At a time of the year when many local people are nursing post-Christmas financial hangovers, Melissa Mogey of Greenhill Drive, had the delightful prospect of stepping into a shiny new Peugeot 107.

Melissa - who works part-time at Shoezone in Ballymoney - told the Times she was delighted to have won the car which she is on the verge of collecting from Curtis Cars in Coleraine.

She said: "My uncle bought a ticket at ASDA in Coleraine before Christmas and I couldn't believe when I won. I am really looking forward to it. It was a great time of the year to win it."

She currently drives a 2003 Vauxhall Corsa but will be the envy of her friends when she gets behind the wheel of the brand spanking new Peugeot.

Each year the Rotary Clubs of Northern Ireland sell ballot tickets during Sept – Dec for 1 and the lucky winner drives off in a brand new Peugeot 107.

Melissa is expected to pick up the car very soon and she was invited to an event held last Friday night by Coleraine Rotary Club in the Lodge Hotel.

She told the Times: "It was a great way to start the New Year by winning this and I feel very fortunate. I am happy with my Corsa but I will be thrilled to get my hands on a brand new car."

When she gets the keys Melissa could be forgiven for not wanting to be parted from the new vehicle so if you see a shiny Peugeot 107 driving round and round Ballymoney town centre you will know who it is!
