This was followed by some foot tapping numbers from the County Antrim Fiddlers and then a visiting WI member, Eileen Moll, had everyone laughing as she told tales of growing up with “her brother” in East Belfast.

Later in the evening she recalled numerous anecdotes from school children’s exam papers and the amusing incorrect answers which they gave.

Every June, the Hood Salver is presented to the WI member who has produced the best craft work during the year, as chosen by Majorie Hood, daughter of the founder member who initially presented the salver.

This year it was presented to Margaret Johnston and Kathleen Hanna who worked a beautiful table cloth to celebrate 75 years of Gracehill and Galgorm WI.

Hubert Nicholl brought greetings from Ballymena Council and presented the visitors from the Irish Countrywoman’s Association with a commemorative mug of the Seven Towers of Ballymena.
