Members pay tribute to outgoing Chief Executive

Coleraine Borough Council’s outgoing Chief Executive, Roger Wilson was in the spotlight at his final meeting last Tuesday night.

Mr Wilson will take up the top post in the new Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon council. Last week, David Jackson was appointed Chief Executive of the new Causeway Coast and Glens District Council.

Mayor, councillor David Harding sent his wishes to Mr Wilson and also wished Mr Jackson success his new role. “Mr Wilson had done a lot for his this Borough and we thank him for everything,” said the Mayor.

UUP Alderman Norman Hillis added: “Roger will be a big loss to us in Coleraine, but I congratulate him on his post - it’s a big job and a big commitment.”

Speaking about Mr Jackson, who will be Chief Executive of the new Causeway Coast and Glens District Council, the UUP man went on: “Anyone who has worked with David Jackson knows he is a very committed person.”

Alliance councillor Yvonne Boyle commended Mr Wilson on the ‘help and support’ he had shown to her as a new councillor, and added that she ‘looked forward’ to working with David Jackson in his new role.

SDLP councillor Roisin Loftus told the meeting that it had been a ‘real privilege’ to work alongside Mr Wilson.

DUP councillor George Duddy wished Mr Wilson all the best in his new post and congratulated Mr Jackson on gaining the top job in the new council. His proposal that Council should write to Mr Jackson congratulating him was carried.
