Memories of thread making in Lisburn are recalled in a new book

SANDY Fleming, an 84 year old former manager of the Linen Thread Company, the international company whose largest mill was Barbour Threads in Hilden, has written ‘Memories of a Thread Maker’ a book to be launched in the Irish Linen Centre in September.

Sandy would like any former employees of Barbours, whether managers or shop floor workers in the period 1945-1980 to be in contact with him through the Irish Linen Centre and Lisburn Museum so that they might be invited to a reception to launch his book.

The evening launch will give the former employees an opportunity for reunion and discussion of the great days of thread making in Lisburn.
