Men in court over Castledawson burglary

TWO men are to stand trial on burglary charges arising out of an alleged incident near Castledawson last year.

Before Magherafelt Magistrates Court were Damien Palmer (35), of Asylum Road, and 29-year-old Christopher Mallet, Brookdale Park, both in Derry.

Palmer faces charges of entering as a trespasser a dwelling house at Ballydermott Road, Castledawson with intent to steal; going equipped for theft, and having in his possession a quantity of cannabis.

Mallet is accused of attempted burglary of a house in Deerpark Road, Castledawson; stealing a mountain bike; having on insurance and no licence.

Both men are alleged to have committed the offences on August 26 last year.

They were returned for trial at Londonderry Crown Court with arraignment scheduled for August 20.

District Judge Des Perry granted them continuing bail until the date of the trial.
