Meningitis Research Foundation says thanks

THE Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF) have thanked their valued member Mrs Lana Wells from Donaghcloney and Ulster Unionist MLA Jo-Anne Dobson for their recent coffee morning in aid of the charity.

A fantastic £773.03 was raised at the event, held in Mrs Dobson’s Banbridge Constituency Office, which will go a long way in helping Meningitis Research Foundation with their continued research programmes.

Lana sadly lost her little boy Leo to the disease in March 2010. Leo was two years and five months when he tragically died.

Mrs Dobson said: “Lana is a credit to all those who have been affected by Meningitis and who wish to progress research into the causes, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of this disease.

“In total Lana has raised £32,900 in memory of her son Leo. As well as coffee mornings Lana has organised quizzes, walks, clay pigeon shoots and football events amongst others and I know that she will continue to raise funds for this important cause.”

Manager Diane McConnell said: “Lana is extremely passionate about Meningitis Research Foundation and we are so appreciative of the work she has done and continues to do for us. It is only through the generosity and the hard work of our members and supporters that we are able to carry out the work that we do.

“Special thanks to Jo-Anne Dobson MLA for hosting the coffee morning in her Banbridge office along with all those who baked and bought buns and made it such a success. We are so grateful.”
