Metal thieves target Magherafelt recycling centres
Thieves are targeting recycling sites for scrap metal in the south Derry area.
The monthly meeting of Magherafelt District Council heard that the entrance gate to Castledawson recycling centre was damaged during a recent break-in.
“This type of activity is on the increase around our sites as the value of scrap metal and batteries increases,” Director of Operations Andrew Cassells told councillors.
