Methodist President 'impressed' by Newtownabbey

METHODIST President Rev Donald Ker is "very impressed" by the caring work of the church at a number of levels in the district.

Rev Ker was speaking after a busy round of engagements in East Antrim last week, where he witnessed at close hand a range of initiatives which are underway across the county.

Newtownabbey Borough Council's civic headquarters - Mossley Mill was among the places the President visited.

Accompanied by his wife, Sandra, and Rev Andrew Boucher of Newtownabbey Methodist Mission, Rev Ker met the Mayor, Alderman John Scott at the Mill on Thursday, March 18.

"I've been in the wider area for the week," said Rev Ker.

"I've been in the Newtownabbey area and then up towards Ballymena as well. I've been very impressed by what I see because what I see are churches wanting to be faithful in their worship to God, but also reaching out in care to communities around them.

"There's been example after example of that."

On Friday, Rev Ker finished the day by participating in a concert at Islandmagee Methodist Church which also featured the Ballyclare Male Choir.
