Michelin workers called to factory

Michelin in Ballymena has called workers to a meeting in the factory at 12 noon today.

There are widespread fears in the district that the plant may be facing closure.

Michelin has been one of the Mid-Antrim area’s major employers since 1969. More than 30 million types have been produced at the huge complex near Broughshane in that time.

Rumours of the closure spread like wildfire on Tuesday morning as it emerged that all four production shifts had been called to the factory for a major announcement at 12 noon.
