Jim Haughey wrote to fishermen across the province informing them the Department of Culture Arts and Leisure - which oversees fishing licences - is releasing policy proposals for consultation on a Fishery Management Plan for Lough Erne and Lough Neagh this Thursday, September 10.

Calling on anglers to ensure their voice is heard, Mr Haughey said: “These two proposals will be of major importance for the future of the fisheries associated with these Loughs. It will be vital that anglers make a positive contribution.

“In due course the Federation will be drawing up an anglers comment on each plan, and to this end we will welcome comments from member clubs to ensure we achieve a collated and full comment in response.

“Our submission document will then be circulated to clubs for their use as and how they desire. In addition it will be most important that individual clubs and anglers make their view known directly to DCAL.”

The deadline for responses to the website proposal at www.dcalni.gov.uk/angling is 5pm on Friday 4th December 2015.
