Mid Ulster Council responds to town parks challenge - new staff to be recruited
Mid Ulster District Council is in the process of recruiting new staff to monitor public parks in the towns of Dungannon, Cookstown and Magherafelt, a spokesperson has told the TIMES.
The announcement comes after this newspaper reported a member of the public had found what appeared to be needles and drug paraphenalia on a pathway in Railway Park Dungannon.
The spokeswoman explained: “The Council is in the process of recruiting new parks staff and will be prioritising town parks when they are in place. Lighting issues in Railway Park will also be addressed.”
Dungannon councillor, Barry Monteith, challenged the council to live up to its “commitments” to ensuring all public parks were kept clear of rubbish, adequately lit up and safe to users.
