Mid Ulster councillors don’t ‘bottle it’ on hospitality costs

Mid Ulster District Council have voted to “keep costs to a minimum” for meetings, following our series of articles on the cost of hospitality in Dungannon, Cookstown and Magherafelt council offices.

The DUP’s Kim Ashton proposed the move at a meeting of the Policy & Resources Committee (Mid Ulster) on Tuesday September 2, saying “council should be striving to keep costs to a minimum”.

Seconded by Cllr Buchanan, it was “resolved that it be recommended to the council that hospitality at council and committee meetings should be tea, coffee, biscuits and jugs of tap water”.

Some councillors commented on the lack of bottled water before last Thursday’s (Sept 25) super-council meeting.
