Mid Ulster councillors seek to regulate leisure centre prices

The Development Committee of Mid Ulster District Council has decided to bring in a harmonised pricing structure across leisure centres come next April.

The move, which will not include Greenvale Leisure Centre as it is currently privately run, will mean that those going for a swim or a session in the gym in both Cookstown and Dungannon, can expect to pay the same price.

At the September 2 meeting, the committee also agreed to work towards a Mid Ulster District sport and leisure membership card and to include Magherafelt in this scheme.

A number of options were put to the meeting but it was decided to act upon just these two ideas, options one and two.

Proposed by Cllr Mallaghan and seconded by Cllr Reid it was resolved “that it be recommended to the council that option one be progressed and officers work towards option two and report back to committee with update to include cost implications”.
