Mid Ulster great-granny gets 100th birthday card from the Queen

Mid Ulster pensioner Annie Armstrong received a very special birthday card from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on her 100th birthday.

Annie Armstrong celebrates her 100th birthday with family and friends

Mrs Armstrong, mother of former Unionist MLA Billy Armstrong and grandmother to current Ulster Unionist Party MLA for Mid Ulster Sandra Overend became a century old on May 31.

Mr Armstrong, who shared the news said his mother enjoyed her 100th birthday, saying: “I enjoyed it most of the time and I did my best the rest the time.”

His daughter Sandra Overend said she was “so very proud of my Granny who reaches a fantastic milestone, her 100th Birthday”.

“A century old... Happy 100th Granny!! Doesn’t she look great?!,” she added.
