Mid Ulster Mail website passes 3 million hits in 2015

The Mid Ulster Mail website has reached another major landmark with more than three million hits [page views] in 2015.

The website was viewed by 934,650 people during the last 12 months, of which over 700,000 were new visitors to the site.

From breaking news stories to video footage of community events the Mail website has continued it remarkable over the last two years.

In 2013 the average monthly hits on the site were just over 30,000 compared to well over 300,000 hits a month, regularly achieved in 2015.

“We may have a largely rural audience, but their appetite for the latest news on digital platforms, surpasses many of our more urban neighbours,” said Multimedia Content Editor Michael McGlade.

“The figures for 2015 are testament to the dedication of our team of reporters here, who have continued to keep pace with the ever evolving world of digital journalism, while also producing the newspaper on a weekly basis.

“We have covered a huge range of stories, reflecting the outpouring of community grief at times of tragedy during the year, while we have also sought answers to individuals’ concerns, whether it’s antisocial behaviour or potholes the size of swimming pools.

Michael added: “We have also posed questions which have sparked huge debate and we have stepped up engagement with our growing audience through social media sites Facebook and Twitter.”
