Grace Leacock, the drummer in the all girl post punk and grunge band is originally from Knockloughrim but now based in Belfast with her fellow band members Shannon Delores O’Neill and Megan O’Kane.

Under the name Vanilla Gloom, the three girls are a rousing, all-female three piece with a post-punk/grunge-influenced sound that has been described as “having melody and venom in magnificently equal portions”.

Less than half a year in, the band’s highly anticipated debut EP, Vexed, is simultaneously seething and sorrowful throughout; a surging, three-track riposte bursting with distorted hooks, soaring harmonies and unforgettable choruses. With ex-Puerile Honey members O’Neill (guitar/vocals) and O’Kane (bass/vocals) sharing song writing duties, Leacock’s commanding drumming ties together the band’s collective, pop-inspired approach to enable a sound defined by zealous interplay and raucous, distorted guitars.

Counting Queens Of The Stone Age, The Breeders and Babes in Toyland as key influences, a one-minute preview of Vexed has seen the band receive widespread attention, with the clip having gained over a thousand plays in just over two weeks.

Likewise, the EP’s thrilling lead single ‘Lemons and Wine’ has lead to eager acclaim from radio presenters across the country.

The girl’s single is now available on itunes and they will be headlining a gig in Voodoo bar in Belfast on 22nd April if you want to experience the girls perform live.
