SDLP Councillor Christine McFlynn said, “Confirmation from Roads Service that Bridger Street in

Moneymore is to be resurfaced will be welcomed by local residents.

“The road surface is in a poor condition and I and my party colleagues have been lobbying for the street to be resurfaced for some time.

“Despite the increasing pressures on budgets it is important that we continue to maintain our roads and ensure they are safe for all road users.

“There may be some disruption during the work but, as long as Roads Service keep everyone fully informed, that work should be completed promptly and the disruption kept to a minimum.

“Along with the resurfacing work I have also requested that speed ramps be installed to further improve road safety. This is particularly important given the location of the playground along the road.

“After the work is completed the new road surface, and the associated improved road safety, will be a benefit to the local community in Moneymore.”

Cookstown Independent Councillor Robert Kelly also welcomed the road works saying: “I commend Road Service on their announcement that Bridger Street is to be resurfaced.

“A lot of work has gone on behind the scenes to get this road brought up to standard. Myself and Cllr Christine McFlynn have campaigned on behalf of the residents and I would like to welcome this great news.

“I would also appeal for people to be patient while this road upgrade is taking place.”
