Mid Ulster sees biggest drop in anti-social behaviour in NI

The region has recorded the biggest reduction in the number of recorded anti-social behaviour incidents across Northern Ireland, a decrease of 12.4% in April-February 2014/2015 compared to the same period in 2015/2016.

PSNI statistics show that anti-social behaviour has been steadily decreasing across Mid Ulster over the past five years and the District now has the second lowest number of incidents across all councils in Northern Ireland.

Chairperson of the Policing and Community Safety Partnership Councillor Phelim Gildernew, said: “I have no doubt that PCSP programmes and initiatives have contributed to this very welcome drop in anti-social behaviour across the Mid Ulster area.

“We are very grateful for the hard work and commitment of our partners who have worked continuously with residents to tackle anti-social behaviour at root level.”

“Anti-social behaviour has a negative impact on the quality of life enjoyed by our residents. Our programmes and initiatives have had a significant impact on helping to build trust and confidence within our communities however there is still much work to be done. We will continue to work with other agencies, volunteers, local groups and communities to further reduce anti-social behaviour, crime and disorder and to create safer communities for us all.
