DUP MLA Gary Middleton has welcomed confirmation from the Social Development Minister Mervyn Storey that a number of schemes will begin within the next six months to replace windows and improve heating in the Waterside area.

“Over the next six months, a retrofit double glazing window scheme will begin in the Tullyally and Brigade areas of the Waterside. A total of 70 properties are scheduled to be included in the scheme. A heating scheme will also be carried out in later 2016,” he said.

“These schemes are very welcome and will be of benefit to housing executive tenants.

“I will continue to lobby the housing executive and the Minister to ensure further schemes are progressed in the coming months,” he added.

It follows an annoucement in November by Mr Storey that 71 Housing Executive (NIHE) properties in the Waterside were to have new fire doors fitted over the winter.
