Mill Strand kids enjoy ski experience

Pupils from Mill Strand Integrated School, Portrush, enjoyed the experience of a lifetime recently, travelling to Pamporovo, Bulgaria.

The annual school ski trip gave the fifteen children the opportunity to try a completely new sport, where children of differing abilities could try something new on an equal footing.

Great snow conditions on the beginners pistes and excellent instruction enabled the children to progress quickly and by the end of two days they were skiing with

confidence from the top of the mountain.

Travelling to Bulgaria also enabled the pupils to become more independent and self reliant, living away from home for a week, developing self-confidence and self-esteem and gave them the opportunity to travel to a foreign country, experiencing different cultures, food, money, languages, climate, people and snow!

At the end of every day’s skiing, children enjoyed an hour tobogganing, building snowmen and playing in the snow, as well as eagerly anticipated hot chocolate and crêpes.

In the words of the pupils themselves the trip was ‘fantastic’ ‘something they would never forget’ and ‘the best week ever’.
