Millbrook gardeners urged to get planting

IT is hoped the gardens and patios of Millbrook will look better than ever this year as it is intended the village will be entered in this year’s Ulster in Bloom’s competition.

The committee of Millbrook Community Association has been approached by Larne Borough Council to enter the prestigious annual contest and as a result, residents are being encouraged to brighten up their area with colourful blooms.

The committee is inviting all the residents to help with the sprucing up of their gardens and planting hanging baskets,

and containers with summer colour.

Inver Garden Centre is sponsoring the competition “Millbrook in Bloom” by donating a garden gift voucher for the best and most colourful garden.

Extra points will be awarded if the garden has a theme relating to the Olympics or the Queen’s Jubilee. Judging will take place in late July or early August.

All front gardens in Millbrook will be automatically entered into the competition.

Gift vouchers will also be awarded for the best hanging basket and best container.

Commercial premises at Millbrook are also invited to become involved. Willowbank Business Park is sponsoring a container.
