Millennium Mural coming back to Braid

Ballymena Mayor Cllr Audrey Wales has described as “appropriate” the return to The Braid of the Millennium Mural.

She was speaking after a Council committee approved a request from the Creative Peace Mural Society to accept the Mural for display in The Braid Arts Centre, along with an interpretative panel explaining the history of the whole project.

The Society started the project in 2000 to have textile murals produced by young people in various parts of the world, depicting their history geography and culture. Ballymena’s Millennium Mural was one of two murals produced that year.

Bringing the request to Council, Officer Bernie Candlish said: “As the project is now at an end, arrangements are being made to return the murals to their respective home countries and it seems fitting that the Millennium Mural return to the Braid Arts Centre where it can be displayed.”
