'˜Mindless idiots' wreck floral displays at Parkanaur

Vandals who wrecked floral displays at Parkanaur overnight have been branded 'mindless idiots'.

Earlier this morning, Tuesday, Castlecaulfield Horticultural Society posted pictures of the damage on its Facebook page.

The society, which runs a hugely successful flower festival every year and devotes its time and energy to improving the appearance of Castlecaulfield and the surrounding area, said in a message: “Flower tiers at Parkanaur badly damaged last night”.

Supporters of the society were swift in their condemnation of the incident, which follows a similar vandalism incident some weeks ago.

One woman posted: “Mindless morons! They do the same here. Some parents need to start asking questions about where their little darlings are and what they’re doing!”

Another wrote: “Not again!!!!! To those involved in this ridiculous behaviour, go and learn some manners and get a life!!!”

There were messages of support too for the efforts of Castlecaulfield Horticultural Society, with commentators praising the “commitment” of those involved in the floral displays.

Meanwhile, Ulster Unionist MLA for the area, Rosemary Barton, said: “I strongly condemn this pointless vandalism.”
