Mini-Chef Challenge

Y6 pupils from St. Brigid’s PS Ballymoney were runners-up in the University of

Ulster Mini-Chef Challenge.

The girls designed a Fried Rice Pineapple Surprise dish, which they cooked for chefs at the Coleraine university campus. Each member of the team received an ice-cream maker as a prize.

The Mini-Chef challenge is one of a number of events held as part of the Step-Up programme which aims to promote science, careers in science and a knowledge of university life amongst primary school children. St. Brigid’s Primary School has been promoting science amongst its pupils through lessons in the classroom and also science lessons outdoors. Science forms a significant part of the School’s Development Plan and is used to develop thinking and problem solving skills as well as literacy, numeracy and ICT skills.
