Mini gymnasts set for adventure in Glengormley

Junglenastix is a fun-filled gymnastics programme for children aged two to eight. It helps to develop a number of core skills in an active and non-competitive environment. Animal-themed circuits take children along the jungle path past a host of elephants, crocodiles, monkeys and snakes to name a few.

Junglenastix founder, Candy Le Roux, believes that the programme is very beneficial for children as it promotes learning and development through active play.

“The children really benefit from Junglenastix in two ways. In terms of their physical development we work on their balance and hand-to-eye coordination, teach them to forward roll and how to hang upside down on a high bar.

“Our aim is to develop the child’s motor skills, general fitness, strength, speed and agility through movement and adventure.” she said.

She added: “As well as developing the basic skills of movement and coordination, which are

fundamental to all types of physical learning, the children really relish the opportunity to

come and let off some steam with their new-found friends, and it is such a joy to see.”

The classes are suitable for boys and girls and will take place on a weekly basis.

A new term of 10 lessons is starting in Glengormley in St Brigid’s Church of Ireland on the Ballyclare Road, this month.

Places must be reserved in advance, although students can join at any point throughout the term.

Spaces for the classes are limited and depend on availability. Junglenastix is also offered at a number of other locations throughout County Antrim including Ballyclare, Carrickfergus, Larne and Carnlough.

A number of pupils graduated at a recent presentation ceremony.

The pupils were from Glengormley Integrated Primary School and received their Junglenastix certificates in December. The young graduates were Aodhan Mulcahy, Melissa Mulholland, Saul Sweeney, Maya Sweeney and Vanessa Rocha.
