Minister launches town Masterplan consultation

Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland said: “The draft Masterplan has identified a number of key proposals that will ensure that Ballymoney can grow and diversify to meet the demands that it currently face. This draft Masterplan will bring new life to Ballymoney whilst at the same time retaining the character and history of the town which is important to so many people.”

“It is also very important that local people feel part of this and take this opportunity to have their say for the draft Ballymoney Masterplan. I would encourage anyone with an interest in the town’s future to let us know what they think of the proposals in the draft Masterplan over the next 12 weeks.”

Mayor of Ballymoney Borough Council Evelyne Robinson commented: “I welcome the Department’s ongoing commitment to Ballymoney. The Masterplan will provide a strategy and vision for the town going forward, creating new opportunities for investment and jobs and attracting additional visitors.”

Alderman Bill Kennedy, Chair of Development Committee who was Council’s representative on the project group – “The enthusiasm which was generated during the preparation of the plan is now leading through to growing optimism about the future of the town. I call on people to view the proposals and have their say.”

The Masterplan was prepared for the Department of Social Development in partnership with the local council and other key stakeholders by a team of consultants from URS.
