Minister looksforward to 2013

NEW Culture Minister Carál Ní Chuilín says she looks forward to using the great occasion of Londonderry UK City of Culture 2013 to promote Northern Ireland globally.

Speaking about her new Ministerial role, Minister Ní Chuilín said: “I am fortunate to be coming into this role at such an exciting time on the sporting and cultural calendar.

“With the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games only a year away and Derry hosting the City of Culture in 2013 and the World Police and Fire Games taking place in Belfast in 2013 also, I will be seeking to maximise the benefits from all of these great occasions and to use these opportunities to showcase the North on the world stage.”

She also said she looked forward to visiting The Playhouse Theatre and An Chultúrlann in Londonderry.

She said: “I am keen to view first hand some of the recent investment in our arts infrastructure such as the Crescents Arts Centre, the Lyric Theatre, the Cultúrlann and the Playhouse Theatre to see how these facilities are enhancing our local arts and cultural sectors.”
