Minister on site visit to Woodgreen

Transport Minister Michelle McIlveen saw at first hand last week the volume and speed of traffic on the A26 Lisnevenagh Road which is currently the subject of a road safety review.

She was joined for a roadside meeting at the Woodgreen junction by North Antrim DUP MLA Paul Frew, South Antrim MLA Trevor Clarke, and Mid & East Antrim Councillors Beth Adger and William McCaughey.

He said: “We are only days away from the completion of the TransportNI surveys that were undertaken on this Road after the sad fatality this time last year and alas another young lady has lost her life recently. We need measures in place in the short term but also a longer term solution to make this road safer.”

Mr Frew added: “The meeting was extremely helpful and the Minister witnessed the dangers of the road first hand. When she now reads the report from TransportNI she will be able to use the knowledge she has gained today to inform her thinking in both the short term and long term.”
