Minister told of review at routine health meeting

HEALTH Minister Michael McGimpsey was told about the decision to undertake a governance review of the Western Trust during a routine meeting with the Health and Social Care Board (HSCB) last October.

He said he met with the HSCB Chief Executive John Compton last autumn and was advised the review was being launched as part of the authority’s normal performance management role.

DUP MLA Lord Morrow asked whether he was party to the decision made on October 1 to instigate the review.

The Minister replied: “I meet regularly with the Chief Executive of the HSC Board when issues of performance and action being taken to address are discussed as part of routine business.

“I was informed in October 2010, during a routine update meeting with the HSC Board, that a review of the clinical and social care governance arrangements in the Western Trust was being undertaken by the HSC Board as part of its normal performance management role.”
