The corpse of the Minke whale was discovered at Magillian Point on Tuesday, November 19, below the high tide mark and close to Magillian Ranges.

According to an MOD spokesman, the MOD took all appropriate actions liaising with HM Coastguard and Limavady Borough Council about the carcase.

“Given the possibility of the corpse being taken into the Foyle Estuary and becoming a hazard to shipping, HM Coastguard is working with Limavady Borough Council on the safe disposal of the corpse,” he said.
