Minto fundraiser first in series for Dromore’s Peter

Peter Branker is nearing his third annual charity tournament in memory of Eric Wilson ‘Minto’ Miniss, the first in a series of looming fundraisers for the Dromore man.

Held in honour of Peter’s friend Minto, who died in May 2013 after a battle with pancreatic cancer, the five-a-side football tournament for over 18s will take place at Ferris Park on June 20 from 12 noon to 4pm.

Said Peter: “The cost is £5 per person with a maximum of eight players per team.

“There will be entertainment for all the family including a barbecue, facepainting and a bouncy castle. J

“Juice Caboose from Dromore will be selling smoothies and juices and there will also be music.”

All funds raised will be donated to Friends of The Cancer Centre.

Come July, Peter will be turning his attention to Bubble Football and a planned tournament at Dromore Rugby Club in aid of Regional Disablement Services at Musgrave Park Hospital, for whom he has personal cause to be grateful.

“ There will be a maximum of five per team and it will cost £5 per person.

Entry forms are available from Peter by email at [email protected].

August will see Peter take to the air in aid of Dromore charity Via Wings.

Appropriately, he will be taking part in a wingwalk.

Peter has already raised some £750 for the August 15 event in London.

“I have paid £400 personally to undertake this as it is a challenge and I strongly believe in the work of Via Wings,” he said.

Anyone who want to sponsor Peter can do so by donating on his Just Giving page ‘http://www.justgiving.com/Peter-Branker1.’

If all that was not enough, Peter is holding a series of other fundraising events during the year, including an acoustic evening and a country night.
