Miss Brownlow pays a visit to Lurgan

MISS Alice Maud Brownlow, a second cousin to Lord Lurgan visited the town in August 1965.

She attended an informal reception at the town hall and was officially welcomed by Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor and Mrs RE Murray on behalf of the citizens of the borough.

Mrs Murray presented Miss Brownlow with a hand-embroidered Irish linen luncheon set, which was manufactured by Messrs Johnston and Allen.

Miss Brownlow, paying her first visit to the town from her home in Chelsea, was shown around the town hall and examined pictures of historic interest and looked up a photo of Lord Lurgan who was the first honorary citizen of the Borough. She also signed the visitor’s book.

Earlier during that week, Miss Brownlow visited Brownlow House and was shown through the building by Mr HA Cushnie.
