That was the shocking statistic revealed last week to East Londonderry MP Gregory Campbell, in a reply to an Assembly Question to the Health Minister Simon Hamilton.

Mr Campbell said “I was concerned about reports on the number of missed GP appointments and the adverse impact it was having on the Health Service.

“Mr Hamilton informed me that there are approximately 12.7 million GP consultations each year, and it is estimated that around 10,000 patients per week fail to turn up for their GP or nurse-led appointment consultations.”

Mr Campbell said that there needs to be reductions in the levels of missed appointments and added that Board Official will be working closely to bring forward additional improvements.”
