Mitcheburne day held

MEMBERS of the Mitchelburne Club of the Apprentice Boys rallied on Saturday September 18 for their annual parade and initiations, despite the inclement weather.

The Mitchelburne Club continued with the traditional founder’s day celebrations and wreath laying ceremonies and despite the conditions there was a very good turnout.

As part of the occasion, tribute was paid to two brethren who were murdered by the IRA in 1991 - Cecil McKnight and Gary Lynch.

The parade assembled at Rossdowney Park to proceed to Bonds Street for the short act of remembrance in honour of Bros McKnight and Lynch. The Club then continued through the Waterside, across the Craigavon Bridge to the Memorial Hall for the remainder of the proceedings.

Quite a number of tourists also watched as the Club members paraded to the Memorial Hall.
