MLA backs bowel cancer charity

SOUTH Antrim MLA Pam Brown has given her support to the Bowel Cancer UK charity.

In a statement, the MLA said: “The charity Bowel Cancer UK is campaigning to increase early diagnosis, to ensure better access to treatment, and to improve the experience of people affected by bowel cancer in Northern Ireland.

“I was pleased to join many of my Parliamentary colleagues from across the political spectrum to add my name to this campaign.

“Bowel cancer is the second biggest cancer killer in Northern Ireland, with over 1,100 people being diagnosed each year. However, bowel cancer is very treatable if caught early. Over 90 per cent of people who are diagnosed in the earliest stages of the disease survive for more than five years.”
