MLA Hale hosts Stormont event for Life After Loss

LAGAN Valley MLA Brenda Hale recently hosted a Stormont event for the charity ‘Life after Loss’.

Founded in 2006 by a group of bereaved mums, Life after Loss began as an online support forum and grew to become a 24-hour support network for those who have lost babies by way of miscarriage, stillbirth or sudden unexpected death.

Mrs. Hale said she had been honoured when Life after Loss asked her to host the evening as part of National Baby-loss Awareness Week and she stressed the importance of families sharing their experiences in order to help others.

She was delighted too, she said, that broadcasters Eamonn Holmes and his wife Ruth Langsford agreed with her to support the charity with a prerecorded interview for the event.

Eleanor Ellerslie, Office Administrator at Life after Loss, said, “We are so grateful that Brenda agreed to co-host our ‘Faces of Babyloss’ project and we were greatly surprised at the endorsement and message of support from Eamonn Holmes and his wife Ruth.

“We have had fantastic feedback from the families and other guests who attended and all agreed it was a very emotional night.”

Mrs. Hale added “I don’t think the hurt and pain of losing a baby ever goes away but charities such as Life after Loss help and continue to support families in coming to terms with the real sense of loss. I commend the vision and passion that Life after Loss has in supporting families and I hope they continue to grow.”
