MLA outraged over gas pipe works

Lagan Valley MLA Edwin Poots has expressed his disgust that a gas pipe works are to be carried out on the Saintfield Road in Lisburn.

“Having campaigned for many years to have the route, which is a gateway to our city, upgraded I am appalled that work and investment is to be undone,” said Mr Poots.

“This comes on the back of Northern Ireland Water leaving the Blaris Road, which had been resurfaced for less than two years, in a mess. I spoke to Roads Service about the issue and unfortunately after one year service users can dig up a resurfaced road.

“They do have a responsibility however to reinstate it to a high standard. I have received an assurance from the Roads Service that they will minimise the works on the Saintfield Road carriageway and ensure reinstatement is of a high standard. I will be pressing Roads Service on having Blaris Road reinstated to an acceptable standard.”
