MLA wants village junction made safer

TransportNI have agreed to survey the speed of vehicles in the vicinity of a dangerous village junction, local MLA Paul Frew says.

The MLA has been communicating with TransportNI in order to establish vehicular speeds on the Ballymena Road, Ahoghill, in response to safety concerns expressed to him by residents at Straid Road/New Road who use the route.

He said: “This is a very busy road with a very dangerous junction right in the heart of the village so people should be aware of the dangers and risks associated with reckless driving. I would ask everyone driving on this stretch of road to check their speed and be aware of people using the junction. TransportNI have agreed to undertake a vehicular speed survey at this point and if inappropriate speeds are detected they will discuss suitable mitigation measures with the PSNI
