MLA welcomes completion of road works in Cookstown

DUP Mid Ulster MLA Ian McCrea has congratulated Roads Service on the completion of works to resurface the Moneymore Road roundabouts and parts of Oldtown/Millburn.

“I want to welcome the completion of the resurfacing works at the Moneymore Road roundabouts, which also included parts of Oldtown/Millburn Street,” he said.

“The state of disrepair at the Moneymore Road roundabouts was a growing problem and something I had raised continually with Roads Service.

“I was delighted to see works get underway at the end of July and now we see the scheme completed on schedule and I feel our local Roads Service and the contractors should receive congratulations on a job well done.”

Meanwhile, a £110,000 road improvement scheme is under way at King Street in Magherafelt on Monday.

Residents and business owners attended a meeting in the town’s Bridewell last week to hear details of the work which is expected to take around three weeks to complete.

Roads Service say disruption will be kept to a minimum with most of the work being carried out using a Stop/ Go sign or traffic lights.

However, the street will be closed to traffic on Saturday, September 6.
