DUP MLA Stephen Moutray has this week reiterated his concerns around the placing of an additional footpath in Church Walk.

Last week’s ‘MAIL’ highlighted the concerns of local businessman Jackie Kerr concerning traffic congestion, parking and access for emergency vehicles to Church Walk surgery.

Mr Moutray said, “I have concerns about this situation. I have visited the site and feel it is unnecessary and indeed ludicrous to put in place a new footpath that will further narrow this roadway and cause problems for vehicular access, for loading and off loading for businesses and for emergency vehicle access to the doctors’ surgery.

“I will be strongly lobbying Road Service and Council to bring about a sensible resolution to this situation. It is imperative that the needs of businesses, home owners, road users and emergency vehicle access are taken into consideration in any of these works that are due to the town. It is vital that people’s concerns are listened to and I will not sit idly by and allow long term businesses to be affected by such decisions.”
