Model runners will raise cash for charity

TEN models from a Londonderry agency are set to join the some 15,000 others and take to the streets of Belfast, to raise some much-needed funds for Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The money raised by the runners from Converse Model Agency - including Waterside girl Jill Goligher and Leah Fletcher from Eglinton - will help grant the wishes of children living with life-threatening illnesses in Northern Ireland.

More used to strutting on the catwalk, the models will join the some 15,000 other participants who will take off from City Hall, Belfast at 9am in a bid to complete the 26.2 mile long 29th annual Belfast City Marathon.

Known for being one of the most competitively priced agencies in Northern Ireland, the agency’s marathon teams are just as competitive. The participants, who have been in training for the last few months, aim to complete the run in less than four hours and raise in excess of 2,000 for the charity in the process.

Agency Manager of Converse Model Agency, Grainne Devine, says the models are a great inspiration.

She comments;

“Our models are very hard working, so it is no surprise how much they have relished the chance to run the Belfast City Marathon for such a worthy cause. Used to working in teams on promotions, shows and shoots, I believe it is this team spirit that will see them complete the run successfully. I wish them the best of luck on the day, and fingers crossed they beat their target time.”
