Moffatt murder trial

A man accused of the murder of Coleraine pensioner Norman Moffatt will go on trial later this week.

Mr Moffat, who was 73, died in 2001.

He was stabbed by a lone attacker as he walked home from buying his morning paper.

The incident was caught on CCTV.

James Alexander McCook (43) is accused of the murder. Mr McCook is originally from Northern Ireland but was arrested last year in Stockton in Cheshire.

A jury of seven women and five men was sworn in at Antrim Crown Court on Monday.

Jurors will begin hearing evidence when the prosecution case opens on Wednesday.

The trial is scheduled to last for three weeks.
