However, he hoped the annual event which brought huge investment into the village would do the same to the Maze.

Organisers, the Countryside Festival say that it was a difficult decision to relocate but due to problems with parking, they were left with little choice.

Director, Derek Lutton said that accommodating the fair in Moira Demesne was becoming difficult.

Mr Lutton explained: “We are very reluctant to move from Moira Demesne.

“However, it has been difficult to accommodate the ever increasing numbers of visitors and exhibitors to Moira Demesne. The land we used for car parking adjacent to Moira Demesne is no longer available.”

Mr Redpath said, “Local traders appreciated the event which brought thousands of visitors into the village. I am glad to see the Maze site being used. The RUAS has made a huge investment. It awaits to be seen whether the Game Fair can deliver the same economic benefit to the Maze area as it has to Moira.”
